In the world of gifted education, students with multiple exceptionalities are often overlooked or misunderstood. However, these students possess unique abilities and potential that should not be ignored. This workshop is designed to provide teachers with a comprehensive understanding of learners who are twice-exceptional and equip teachers with the necessary tools to effectively serve these students in the gifted and talented program.
Participants will delve into the characteristics and specific needs of students who are twice-exceptional, examining common traits and challenges that may accompany their exceptionalities. Through interactive discussions and real-life case studies, teachers will gain a deeper understanding of how to recognize and support these students in the classroom.
Furthermore, this workshop will explore the assessment and identification processes for identifying students as both gifted and having additional needs. Teachers will learn how to navigate the complexities of identifying students who are twice-exceptional and how to advocate for their admission into the gifted program.
This workshop meets the requirement for a six hour update for teachers who serve gifted and talented students.
