STAAR Alternate 2 Overview
TEA has developed the STAAR Alternate 2 assessment to assess students in grades 3–8 and high school who have significant cognitive disabilities and are receiving special education services. STAAR Alternate 2 administrators are not required to complete training in addition to that required for administrators of all other forms of STAAR. In this optional training we will discuss:
- Participation Requirements
- Allowable Accommodations for STAAR Alternate 2
- Sample Test Questions
- Testing Timelines
- Planning instruction using the Essence Statements, TEKS Curriculum Framework and TEKS Vertical Alignments
This training is designed for first-time testing administrators. If you successfully administered the STAAR Alternate 2 assessment last year, you may consider reviewing the materials on the STAAR Alternate 2 Resources webpage in lieu of attending this training. Please view this webpage at http://tea.texas.gov/student.assessment/special-ed/staaralt.
