Implementing guided reading can be challenging--especially in the bilingual classroom. In campuses and districts throughout our region, Science and Social Studies are said to be integrated into the Language Arts block. But how often does it actually happen? And what is the cost of failing to implement these content areas effectively? Participants at this workshop will gain valuable strategies and practical knowledge for integrating Science and Social Studies into their guided reading block. They'll leave prepared to empower their students to master TEKS from all three subject areas.
This workshop develops teacher capacity in the following T-TESS dimensions:
- Planning Dimension 1.1: Standards and Alignment
- Instruction Dimension 2.4: Differentiation
- Instruction: Dimension 2.1: Achieving Expectations
