Fundations is a K-3 early prevention and intervention word study program that integrates the 5 components of effective reading instruction:
- phonemic awareness
- phonics
- fluency
- vocabulary
- comprehension
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to a Level K phonics scope and sequence compatible with the TEKS Kindergarten standards. The program is designed to be most effective when used as a 30 minute core word study for all students, with intervention lessons provided to small groups of struggling readers during an additional 30 minute, from 3 to 5 times per week. The program provides an integrated approach to teaching phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, and letter formation. Decodable text resources are provided for skill application. Opportunities for vocabulary and comprehension instruction are also integrated into instruction, but do not supplant additional literature-based instruction. Participants receive lifetime access to the Wilson Prevention Learning Community resources and free downloadable Progress Monitoring tools.
Training materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring Teacher Manuals to the training. Instructional materials are purchased directly through Wilson Language Training. Kits or components of a kit may be purchased via the following website: https://store.wilsonlanguage.com/fundations-teacher-s-kit-k-second-edition/
