What is the Pyramid Model?

The Pyramid Model is a structured framework that utilizes evidence-based practices to foster healthy social and emotional development in young children.  In this three-day course, you will receive instruction in all three Tiers of the model.

Why Take This Course?

Do you encounter challenging behaviors in your classroom? Many young children display such behaviors as part of their development. While most respond to appropriate management techniques, some require additional support. This workshop explores effective strategies using Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) to reduce undesirable behaviors and promote positive ones.

Course Overview

This course follows the Pyramid Model framework, addressing three tiers of behavior support:

Tier 1: Universal Supports

  • Nurturing and responsive relationships with children, families, and team members
  • High-quality, inclusive learning environments
  • Social development promotion for all children

Tier 2: Targeted Prevention

  • Focus on at-risk children
  • Teaching social-emotional skills to prevent challenging behavior

Tier 3: Individualized Interventions

  • Individualized Teaching of Social Skills

  • Systematic teaching methods
  • Peer-mediated interventions
  • Embedded instruction and progress monitoring
  • Addressing Challenging Behavior

  • Understanding and responding to challenging behaviors
  • Recognizing and addressing bias in responses
  • De-escalation strategies
  • Developing behavior support plans

By the end of this course, you'll be equipped with practical tools to create a supportive learning environment and help all children succeed.
