CANCELED: Parental Rights and School Conferences by AVANCE

AVANCE is one of the oldest, largest and most distinguished parenting and early childhood education programs in the country. We support Austin families in achieving long term educational success in breaking the familial cycles of poverty.

By providing intensive services in a rich, supportive environment, AVANCE helps families improve their overall well-being, impacting two generations simultaneously. We provide critical education and intervention services, creating the conditions that transform high crime, economically depressed neighborhood into ones where families are contributing and their children are succeeding academically.

This workshop will provide strategies on how to help parents learn about the benefits of getting involved in their child's education and school.

We will discuss:

  • how to support parents in preparing for conferences with their child’s teacher
  • understand more about school policies
  •  procedures regarding discipline, access to records, school suspensions and appeals.

NOTE: This training is intended to support the Family Engagement Plan under House Bill 4
