TTM PM Spring: Intermediate/Advanced Users

Texas Education Agency (TEA) has made online resources available to Texas public schools and open enrollment charter schools through the TexasSUCCESS initiative.

TexasSUCCESS includes scientifically validated and research-based online programs to target the prevention of academic failure in mathematics and reading in the following service categories:

  • Math Grades 3–8 & Algebra I (Think Through Math)
  • Reading Grades 3–5 (Istation) (Istation Espanol available for 3rd grade)
  • Reading Grades 6–8 (Compass Learning)
  • English I & II (Apex Learning)

Representatives from each of the 4 companies will provide training for district staff to facilitate effective implementation of these resources into instruction.

These training sessions will be BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). A limited number of laptops will be available for participants who do not have a device to bring.

Student success starts with crafting the right plan for using Think Through Math.  This Training of Trainers (TOT) will walk you through the steps of a successful implementation.

Audience: Intermediate/Advanced Users - The session includes group collaboration and implementation planning. Participants will leave with a plan in hand to launch TTM.

Session Overview:

• Data-Driven Instruction Training - Your TTM instructional coach will take you on a deep-dive into your year-to-date implementation data (if available), so you can celebrate your successes and identify areas for continued growth.

• TTM and the Quantile® Framework - How can you measure each students’ level of math proficiency and on-going progress? TTM has incorporated the Quantile® scale from MetaMetrics® (the math equivalent of the popular Lexile scale for reading) to provide your teachers with the information they need to ensure that every student is working within their zone of proximal development.

• Instructional Models for Think Through Math - There is no “one size fits all” instructional model. Your team will explore how to use TTM for different classroom models, such as a blended learning model, flipped classroom model and rotation model. We will focus on increasing engagement and optimizing 1:1 instruction time with students.

• The Power of Math Journaling - To build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, students must be able to show their work. We will cover TTM’s journaling methodology and helps teachers communicate why showing work is so important. We will help teachers guide students through the process of learning how to document their own thinking.
