In this make and take session, secondary math teachers will learn how to create and use anchor charts as effective, engaging, and student-friendly tools to support instruction for their ELLs by reinforcing key concepts, skills, and vocabulary.
Participants will learn how to use an anchor chart to drive a lesson/unit, meaningfully incorporating it throughout the course of the lesson to promote students' academic speaking, writing, and metacognitive skills. With the hands-on practice provided in this workshop, participants will be able to begin the school year with the fundamental knowledge and skills to create quality anchor charts. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with peers to create your own anchor charts in preparation for the first instructional unit.
