Wilson Reading System Introductory Workshop

Wilson Language Training (WLT) and Wilson Accredited Partners have received accreditation by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).  This designation recognizes that Wilson Reading System certifications align with the IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.  The Wilson Reading System Introductory Workshop is a prerequisite to Wilson Level I Certification online course and practicum.

In this 15-hour introductory workshop, participants will learn the multi-sensory structured language principles and techniques of the Wilson Reading System (WRS).  A Wilson trainer will describe general program concepts and provide hands-on instruction in the lesson plan format.  Topics addressed in this workshop include the following:

  • Reading research
  • Basic principles of language structure
  • How to teach language with direct, multi-sensory methods
  • Review and reinforcement
  • Program implementation
  • Student placement, progress, and monitoring
  • Lesson planning and procedures in the WRS – modeling and practice
Upon completion, most participants will be able to begin using the WRS. For more detailed information about further professional development with Wilson Language Training click here to access a Wilson Reading System Course Catalog.
